So I’m sitting in a hotel room in Portland, Oregon, somewhere I didn’t know I’d be a week ago. I was supposed to be at Memorial University in St. John’s Newfoundland, doing the theme presentation for a youth event. Unfortunately the event got cancelled, and I was reminded that this event, Come to the Feast, was happening in Portland, and I had an ( Read more... )

Rick - if there is anyone on this planet that has the faith and genuine fortitude to work through issues, it's you. I've only known you a short time, but that heart that beats in you is as big as your soul and it touches everyone that comes in contact with you.

In my humble opinion (not that you asked!) ;-)

You need to turn all that attention and love and devotion you give effortlessly to others and apply it to Rick. It's pretty damn hard, but once you do you realize that it starts happening more quickly and isn't as selfish as it seems.

This entry was incredibly open and honest - that's a start. You have friends surrounding you that will be there for you - help you - hug you and do whatever it is that you're moved to job - personally and professionally.

While I can't do it in person (yet) I send you love and warm **HUGS**

Oh and P.S. What'd you think of Portland? They say it's very similar to Denver.

You guys are an aspect of my life that gives me so much joy... having you both closer to me will mean the world... just as having Geoff and Bob, Andrew and Scott, Alberto and so many other new and wonderful friends makes me so grateful, and want really great things for myself.

I'm feeling a lot better, maybe because I've been away from work for awhile, or maybe because tlaking about it has made me think about a lot of changes I want to make. Whatever the reason I'm ready to take it all on...

Portland is really beautiful, very green, very lefty feeling and diverse. I would love to go back and spend some social time...

Hey, I don't really know what to say, except that I want to say something. Sounds like you are going through a pretty rough time. Here are a couple of quotes that I have found helpful in my own life.

Pain must never be taken philosophically; otherwise it isn't pain, we haven't been opened up. The more human we become the more likely we are to suffer. Approachable means vulnerable, woundable, not made hard by a history of abuse, but like old leather, made softer, more comfortable to be near.

:-)

Thank you for that kind of thoughtfulness... it helps a lot... the great support of so many reminds me that I am really not alone in anything... which makes me feel ready to tackle anything :-)

I'm here with your sis in NYC now, and having a good time (well, when we're done our meetings and having drinks at least!) Lots of nostalgia about past adventures...

Son, I'm not here to talk about your mental illness. I understand it well being Bipolar myself (and rather medicated at that). Mental health issues can really play a major roll in such posts as your comment here. I respect what you're battling and I know it's not an easy one ( ... )
