Isabel had been half dozing, half listening to one side of the phone calls.

During a lull in the calls, she opened one eye and peered at Wyatt. "Do I want to know who's calling and how they're related? Or is it going to break my brain?"

"Do you really want to be the one to point that out to them?" Because if so, Isabel was definitely putting money on someone throwing a punch.

"Like I'm going to let Chris get away with not hearing it," Wyatt snickered.

"Why do I have a feeling graduation is going to be very interesting?" she wondered.

"Between Phyre and Starina? Oh yeah," Wyatt said. He left out the part about Chris not talking to him recently at all.

He didn't mention it. But somehow, knowing both Chris and Wyatt, Isabel wouldn't be surprised by the news. "Don't mock him too badly. Let it be a graduation present."

"You ask so much of me," Wyatt said with a mock whine.

"It's nothing you can't handle," Isabel told him. "And I'm sure you'll be rewarded if you do it."

Wyatt perked up. "How?" he asked.

"Chocolate ice cream," she said happily. "And if you're really good, hot fudge and whipped cream."

"With a cherry on top?" Wyatt said, waggling his eyebrows as he snuggled closer to Isabel.

"Absolutely. It's practically a requirement for a proper sundae."

Isabel sighed and slipped her hand under the edge of Wyatt's shirt to rest against warm skin. "We'll see her again one day? Won't we?"

"Definitely," Wyatt said, nuzzling her shoulder. "I promise we will."

"And you always keep your promises." She turned her head for kiss, wondering briefly if she should remind him of his promise to go kick demon butt. After a minute of a warm kiss, she decided the demons could wait. This was much more fun.

Kissing was definitely more fun than demons. Wyatt wrapped his arms around Isabel and kissed her back, some small part of his mind wondering just when his grandfather was going to get home.

Despite not being telepathic, Isabel was having similar thoughts. Which was why she kept her hands relatively still, which meant Wyatt's shirt was most definitely staying on. At least until they made it to his room.

Someday they'd have a place of their own where they wouldn't have to worry about people walking in on them
