SNAPE ALSO HAD MEMORIES HE COULDN'T HAVE HAD. WTF.
The wand still upsets me. Ruined the end of the movie, ngl.
I LOVE THE MALFOYS WIMPING OUT. LOL MY FAVORITE EVER.
Neville is the BAMFiest BAMF that ever BAMFed.
The deaths - Fred's I was upset wasn't in there more, but Remus & Tonks got glossed over in the books, too. I'm...kind of glad they didn't show it because OMG REMUS YOU ARE MY FAVORITE I DON'T WANT TO SEE YOU DIE. (Even though I kind of hate movie Lupin; not like the Lupin in my head at all. I prefer my Lupin.)
I KNOW. And the early memories that they DID show lasted all of four seconds. >:(
It really did. And then the Epilogue happened and I just laughed because they all looked ridiculous. All in all the ending was meh.
THAT WAS SO GREAT. And when Draco changed sides to join his parents and Voldemort hugs him, omg. HILARIOUS.
FOREVER MY FAVORITE.
Very true, re: Remus and Tonks. I liked Remus in PoA but that was about it. And I was also upset that they COMPLETELY OMITTED PERCY. Which I guess... they kind of ignored that whole storyline in previous movies anyway, but STILL. Fred was supposed to die mid-joke at Percy, not alone. Still annoyed by that.
Them skipping over Fred's/Remus'/Tonks' death like it was nothing really made me upset. I mean, I cried when they showed them but still. It would've been nice if they showed more of that.
And I felt the movie was rushed too. I was shocked hearing it was only two hours.
Fred was supposed to die with Percy, Ron, Harry, and Hermione around him, while he was dueling the Minister of Magic and making jokes at Percy! AND THY IGNORED THAT AND IT MAKES ME SAD. He wasn't supposed to just die alone. :(
I feel like they could have stretched it to at least 2.5 if not 3 hours had they slowed down the action a bit and had more exposition. If you didn't read the book you were pretty much screwed because absolutely nothing was explained.
I was happy with it and have few or no complaints, but I gave up on hoping the movies would be just like the books a long time ago. I clapped and cheered VERY loudly for the R/Hr kiss, so no "meh" on this end, but then they were my first major OTP in any fandom, so I'd been waiting a loooooong time for that kiss.
In my theater, "Not my daughter, you bitch!" and Neville killing Nagini also got a lot of cheers. Shoot, people cheered as soon as they saw Neville come through the portrait! He was even more badass than I remember from the book!
I did too, but then everyone was like OMG IT'S SO FAITHFUL TO THE BOOK and I got my hopes up. I know they're separate entities but I don't honestly understand why they changed a few of the things they changed. Harry mending his wand with the Elder Wand would have taken an extra minute, if that, for example. I just don't get it.
I wouldn't have minded it if there was some like, you know, actual build up and plotting around it. But it was completely out of no where. Ginny like Harry for four years! Harry hardly acknowledges her existence! Harry gets raging hormones! Ginny suddenly shows some form of character and Harry is in love with her! The END.
When I heard it was 2 hours and ten minutes or whatever it was I was like WAT. But overall I also thought it was pretty good.
The Prince's Tale TOTALLY went too fast, but at the same time, I think the way it was cut and his kind of downward spiral showed everyone what an AMAZING HERO SNAPE IS :'D!!!
Also, Neville is amaaaziiiing. I was so excited for him to kill Nagini and it was SO PERFECT.
The awkward hug made for such a lulzy moment in what's supposed to be a serious scene, but whatever.
Glad you went to a midnight showing, too!! I can't believe they're over!!
That's exactly what I'd say: pretty good. I was hoping to be blown away by the awesomeness and sadly I wasn't, but that doesn't mean that it wasn't a good movie. Wasn't great, though.
That's true! But I'm still confused as to why they didn't show him calling Lily a Mudblood, considering that was the whole reason they stopped talking! They made it seem like they went from childhood BFFs to ... not. Or something, idk.
NEVILLE IS JUST THE BEST. When Harry, Ron, and Hermione were chasing the snake, I was like I SWEAR TO GOD IF YOU RUIN NEVILLE'S MOMENT... but thankfully they did not. Phew.
I know! I'm sad that I only went to one of them. I actually fell out of the Potter fandom in like, 2005. Before I got sucked back in last December, I had never seen any of the movies or read Deathly Hallows. AND NOW I FEEL LIKE I MISSED OUT. D:

Epilogue was hilarious, though still kind of adorable (I was never completely an epilogue hater).

I never...got Harry/Ginny. It even felt forced in the books, let alone in the movie.
