when it came to college rooms, i found that it was an advantage to be relatively minimalist. but that's me. i just hate being cramped, unless it were to be in the same room as a beautiful young brunette who currently knows nothing of my existence. but that's me.
you really don't need all that much 'stuff'. i like my room to look pretty, so i take photos and posters et al, but there are really aren't that many things you definitely need day to day.
don't forget things that you take for granted at home - like a sewing kit. you need a good sewing kit. there's nothing worse than being without one. :-)
I was thinking fairy lights for a touch of inspiration, and one of those wooden shabby chic 'word' things that you hang on the wall that say things like 'dream' or 'imagine'.
And yeah! Mum reminded me to get a sewing kit the other day, plus a first aid kit and clothes horse et al.
yeah, just to echo the words of V and Shna, my absolute favourite part of moving is cleansing myself of all the stuff i don't need. i really see it as an opportunity.
posters, laptop, some clothes (not all of them!) and a couple of folders if you need to be organised... should just about cover it. don't take furniture (unless you reeeeeeeally reeeeeeally need a beanbag or something, but it probably will end up in the lounge room instead of your room anyway) - all the flats have a chair, desk, wardrobe and bookshelf.
i do, however, recommend a rice cooker and/or sandwich toaster, but wait 'til you've moved in to see if anyone else in your flat has one already. my first flat had three rice cookers which was just stupid.
in other news! G'Day Sushi has changed its name! i saw today! It is now Harbour Sushi. which is not very much less bizarre, seeing as it's a fair walk from the harbour.
Nope. Not yet. Apparently the 7-share areas are two storey - that must be awesome! I had a look around a 4-share and the rooms seem very reasonable, although the beds don't appear very comfy... Love the rooftop common area though :)
Oh no! G'day Sushi was such a perfect mangling of languages! I guess Harbour Sushi will have to do...

Yeah...considering that my new room is a shoebox compared to my one at home, even if I take half of my 'stuff' it will still be cramped haha
