I totally fell in love with my walk to and from work over the summer. It wasn't terribly scenic, but there were always fun people waiting outside the elderly dentist's office I passed. Plus it was a way for me to sort things out in my head while trotting along.

When I was into distance walking, I found that I really needed to do it *with* people in order to have any motivation. And actually, that hasn't really changed. I don't mind going for walks, generally, but if it's just me I'll be lazy and stay home.

I do have a generic MP3 player, yes (which is also a bit finicky, like all electronics!). However, I also buy music from iTunes and the generic player can't handle security-encoded MP3s that iTunes sells. So yes, I'd be interested. The main reason I haven't bought myself an iPod is that I haven't been able to justify the expense - I can still listen to the music on my computer, and I mainly use the player when travelling.

Okay, I'll squirrel it away for you then :) And you don't have to keep calling it Maximus.

That's a relief. I'd probably forget. :P

Is there a story behind "Maximus"?

Yay! I'm glad you got a new ipod (even if you didn't really need it). I've been eyeing some of the new nano's as well. I have my ipod that is even older (think generation 2, and we're on generation what... 6? 8? now) but like MJ said, I can't really justify the expense since mine still works most of the time (ignoring that i really can't put any new music on it).
