What went down at HIMSS (Apr. 6-7)

Health Information Management Systems Society, the annual conference is part trade-show, part education, part schmoozing. This is the first time I went. Epic is close to Chicago, so it made practical sense this year to send bus loads of cheery, bright-eyed kids (I'm sure that's what we looked like, anyway) to the conference. As usual, my off-topic comments are:

*"Kaiser Permanente" is an interesting illustration of how far Latin-origin words have spread.

*I only know what "DoD" is from watching NCIS. Despite all the military people with whom I'm vaguely acquainted, the only one with whom I actually have communication was actually a civilian contractor or something.

*That's Greenspan? Damn, all this time I thought that was a Paul-Bernanke icon. I didn't start actually watching fake news until recently, after all.

*It occurred to me recently that, as a stop-gap before the far-future topical icons, I should just type the names of the topics on my usericons. Unfortunately, my skills are too pathetic to make even that look good. . . .

Yes, but unless it's completely different from the English word, it's of Latin origin via Russia.
