I have only been in Iraq for a week, and i realize that these next 6.75 months are going to be extreemly long. Why? Because when god created the earth, he farted, and the ( Read more... )

I'd write to you, but you don't remember who I am, so is there a point?

I will totally write you, but am having a hard time being AT HOME right now, so I haven't even seen your livejournal in several weeks. I miss you a lot, and for some reason it occured to me a few days ago that you've been in the corps for over a year now... it hadn't registered with me until then. Okay, all this biking has made me a little spacey, but I'm having a good time, and am still missing you, thirty seconds after writing it the first time. I hope you're well. <3 <3

Rebecca

Jeez, I know this is old, but i'm a little behind. I moved. I'm in another part of Iraq. I don't remember if i sent you a letter before, but i grabbed your address again, so i will be writing. expect a letter in about three weeks or so.

I hope this new love interest works out well and i'm glad school is going good.

love always,
dave

the love interest did not work out well, but school is fine otherwise. I started a letter to you, I don't know when I'll finish it. I've been kind of mopey lately, I hope it gets better soon.

I miss you lots,

love,
Rebecca

Hey there jarhead sonofholhorse July 27 2005, 22:45:53 UTC
Hey, keep hard-charging and ground-pounding! Oorah kill! I'm sorry I hadn't got a chance to get your mailing addy before now, but it just struck me that you have an LJ...duh! I'm still at Pendleton, gearing up to return to the dirt in Feb/Mar next year. I hope you enjoy Iraq to all it's potential (aka get to eat in a decent chowhall once in a while and have a decent laundry set-up). Are you located near a base or fob? You mentioned a 10-lbs gun...are you a SAW gunner? Have you had any direct contact with hostile Hadjis, or just some indirect fire? We got hit with Mortars all the time in, an RPG attack once (that scared the fuck out of me, but we reacted in as much of a calm, cool manner as possible and everyone made it through it). Here's to keeping your guard up, and I hope that you never have to make direct contact with the enemy! If you do, give them hell and hot death! No mercy, no quarter! Also, I hope you have a decent PX to frequent once in a while, and not just a hadji store to spend those warbucks ( ... )

I even get computer access bout once ever three weeks or so. My ten pound gun refers to my m14 a4 (8lbs.) with an ACOG scope (1 lbs.) and a peq 2 (.5 ;bs) and and extra mag in my spare mag pouch. I'm on a fob in downtown fallujah. I personally have gone through two IED's, a RPG attack, and random spouts of small arms fire. not so bad though. I'll probably get my combat action ribbon before i leave, and in Feb, i'll be home. I hope to talk to you soon. Leave your digits and i'll wake your ass up before reville some morning.
