Things are good here in Finland. I am really loving it here. It is so serene, and it is the perfect setting to do all the work I have to do. I am cramming at least 35 credits in 3 months (last semester we did 15 credits in 4 months), and its been pretty insane. But I think I have my thesis topic, and it is awesome ( Read more... )

haha. YOu know whats funny? That saying all overgeneeralizations tick you off. Cause that is an overgeneralization! Tehehehehe.

But yeah it was annoying. Like dude, do belittle the country like we have never elected a good president. Like we were the worst country ever and now we finally are not. Annnnoying,

I feel you on the views of people from the US. In the past couple of weeks I have had to admit fault, but defend the general good that is throughout the country. Not all American's are racist assholes. While some exist, as a whole, the country is obviously accepting and grateful for the diversities and differences that are available. I know that I am. Though Thailand is great, I've been thinking more and more lately about how great it is to see people from all over the world in one location. Pretty cool. A lot of the people in Chachoengsao, where I've stayed a handful of nights, still point and giggle when they see a white dude. Which I get a kick out of, but still kind of makes you grateful for some of the things in the old US.

Yeah I learned so much about American from being abroad. And despite all the shit I get, it is an amazing country with so much opportunity, and its not without its faults, but I really do not hear people constantly reminding me, like I did not already know that. ITs crazy that a lot of foreigners feel so obligated to talk smack about the US with me, because I am American, and then I get upset and they say "oh youre so American" and if I talked smack about any other country, I would be construided as this horrible and racist person. Ugggh. Double standards. Its funny though< i think Europeans are so blatantly racist its unbelievable, I have never seen anything like it. And its ok because they just hate other countries, no matter what their skin is (I mean its crazy my Dutch friends HATE Germans, MY Finnish friends hate Estonians, blabhlbab...and they talk about how much they dislike them, and then try to give me flack for the USA ( ... )
