You are part of a society that dictates religious norms (if the society is religious, that is). If you don't follow those norms, does that mean you're less religious? so everyone has their own 'line' that they won't cross in halacha. but that doesn't mean that if are lines are different, then one of us is wrong (by the way, just for the record, it's not me :) )it just means we each have our own comfort level.

so, if you had a pocket rabbi would you have to peek inside every so often and make sure he's still breathing? cuz otherwise, you would have more isses about halacha. like is it considered b'shogeg if I kill my Pocket Rabbi due to lack of oxygen? How many Korban Chatats do i need to bring?

I'll have to ask my pocket rabbi about your excellent questions.

What I wonder is, should we decide our way by what's comfortable to us? Even if it's in Halacha? Surely there should be some work involved... I dunno.

Hey, this should be our introduction to "Lifaamim Hatzna Lechet"!

avital, i think it's so healthy that you're thinking about these things. it's so good! and rav oron (and your inner pocket-rabbi) are right - halacha is often as individual as it is collective. you'd be surprised.

oh, and remember when i pretended to be sara krantman???

lol, how could I forget?

Thanks. I was hoping you'd give me an answer, but I guess that'd defy the purpose of the whole thing. This sound like something I could discuss w you for an hour or two... say, till 3 o'clock in the morning...
