1. I am learning French at the Alliance Francaise. Strangely, nearly all my classmates are male.
2. Learning the French subjunctive was a great moment. I felt like a vast conspiracy had been unveiled.

Random fact from the Times today
Only 3 per cent of 4,100 high-powered, but unfaithful, men divorced their wives and married their lovers, according to a study into extra marital affairs. And the divorce rate among those who marry their lovers is 75 per cent.
What a scary pair of stats. -

Just got back from the 2012 party in the Mall, whose atmosphere suffered from a complete lack of alcohol and the fact that at least one third of the audience were bemused foreigners who've never seen Blue Peter and don't know or care who Will Young is. Earlier this week I had a hunch that the troupe of multiethnic child singers at the Olympic opening ceremony was not what quite what it seemed.
