I know what you mean; I've had the same thing happen (and pretty much just made a point-form post about it.:))
I'm glad life's making itself interesting for you.

In your list of computer-related distractions, you should also add online games like World of Warcraft and Guild Wars. I lost a friend for about 6 months because of WoW. She refused to come to parties, gathering, or even leave her room in case she missed out on something online.

Basically, our culture is based around bombarding us with crap all the time so we don't have time to think - LJ, Myspace and Facebook are the same thing, except they come in the guise of being harmless "social interaction" tools (and so they're a break, Facebook even keeps the advertising at a minimal). These things keep us glued to screens and in a fairly susceptable state for when we're at work and/or away from the TV so we can spend our work hours thinking about the new advertisement recievers/slogans/shit we're going to buy when we get out. Now there's some paranoid conspiracy for you.

Hey, there's an idea, we should write a book about this stuff and make some cash out of it.

After not having internet for a month my world (or anyone else's) didn't end. I did however become 'known' at the post office for loitering heh.

Sorry hun ...only just stumbled accross this!

I had to put off the market cos I've been either too busy or too sick (prolly both related!).
Trying to find a date that will suit so keep an eye out for an update & I'd love to see you there :)
