Morning work-out and run accomplished, Dinah went back to her room to pack a few things for her trip to New Gotham tomorrow. She'd left a few *handwavey* messages for people to see if they were up for a day-trip to her adopted hometown.

New Gotham should be bracing itself.

Claire was being lazy today. She put aside her book and watched her roommate pack. "Going somewhere?"

Claire nodded. "I figure I'll take as much of a variety as I can since I still have no clue what I want to do after high school."

"That's what college is for too. Or so I hear. I have my doubts," Dinah said, turning over to grin at her roommate. "What's your favorite class, usually?"

"Does lunch count?" Claire joked. "I really have no idea. I'm hoping that something will jump out and appeal."

"If you're going to be a chef, probably." Dinah grinned and kicked her heels. "But yeah. You've got lots of time." Sometimes she felt lucky, knowing what she really wanted to do already. "And the play will be soon, and the clubs will start, and it'll be really cool."

"Yeah, I'm definitely going to try out for cheerleading whenever that happens," Claire said. "What other kinds of clubs do you think there will be?"

"There was an Art Club, and a school newspaper, and a music appreciation club," Dinah said, trying to remember from spring. "Oh, and Triela's Girls with Guns Club. I am soooo out of practice there. She's going to mock. Cooking club too, I think."

"Ooh, the girls with guns club sounds good," Claire said. "I should learn how to use weapons in addition to learning to fight."

"Definitely. And Triela's a good person to learn from. It's mostly girls, but guys are welcome too. I think Triela called it that so girls would feel welcome, maybe." Dinah sighed. "I need to work on breaking them some more, too. Just in case."

"Breaking guns?" Claire asked, making sure she was understanding correctly.

"With my telekinesis. If I can't take it away from someone, or don't want them to know I've got TK, breaking it so it doesn't fire is the next best option," Dinah explained. "Triela showed me a lot of the ways a gun can misfire or jam, so I could make that happen."

"Right, that makes sense," Claire said. "And I can imagine it would be very useful. Getting shot hurts a lot."

"You got shot?" Dinah checked, giving her a worried look. "I know you'd recover, but..."

Claire nodded. "It was to save my family. The guy doing the shooting was a telepath, so he knew I'd be okay. We were trying to keep the other guy with him from losing control of his powers and leveling my neighborhood."

"... your life is even scarier than mine," Dinah decided. "So did your neighborhood get leveled?"

"No, just my family's house," Claire said. "And, yeah, there's a lot of crazy stuff going on. That's why I'm here."
