Room 312, Monday afternoon

Aug 24, 2009 12:28

Morning work-out and run accomplished, Dinah went back to her room to pack a few things for her trip to New Gotham tomorrow. She'd left a few *handwavey* messages for people to see if they were up for a day-trip to her adopted hometown.

New Gotham should be bracing itself.

Claire was being lazy today. She put aside her book and watched her roommate pack. "Going somewhere?"

Dinah propped her chin on her hand. "I'm sorry for that. Is your family doing okay now? Your adopted family?"

Claire nodded. "Yeah, they're all doing okay. That's part of why we moved to California."

"Makes sense." Dinah shook her head, thinking of having to leave Missouri, but not really regretting it; very very different from Claire's life. "Have you told your dad anything about this place yet?"

"No, not at all and I'm not planning to," Claire said. No one had told her about Parent's Weekend yet.

"It's better if he doesn't know. I like it here, I'm safe here and I'm learning a lot of useful things here. If he knew how weird it was, he would pull me out, I just know it."

Too bad Dinah didn't really know about it either, hunh?

"Yeah, it is. It is weird, but, even the bad stuff has a contrast." Dinah thought of Griff and Fiona being safe here, and the angel in the church, and 'Dite in the town. "I'm glad you're still here, though."

"Yeah, so am I," Claire agreed, giving her a smile. "And the bad stuff here is... well, I don't wanna say it's not as bad as stuff at home, but it's different because people here know how to deal with stuff."
