Do you find that simply listening to the people the topic at hand actually relates to is some strange new concept? that people tend to be appalled when you even suggest it? Like, "Why don't you shut up and just listen to what the people you want to help have to say?" drives people (dudes) CRAZY.

It really does. I am so sick of being talked over. I wish I could understand exactly why people think their voice matters in issues that will never affect them.

This can actually apply to any ally, but this is the one that I have been noticing lately.

All arrows pointing inward. Plus, I think it also relates to their pre-established hierarchy of what viewpoints are valuable and what are not. They couldn't possibly shut up for 5 fucking seconds, their awesome notions might get drowned out by some evil vicious man-hating FEMINIST or something. So, a combo of narcissism and tone argument shit, I think.
