i've been reading chuck palahniuk's diary. it's fucking amazing and making me comtemplate a lot of things. ive come to the realization that in many of my classes i'm surrounded by the typical college males and females. numbers. dummies. pawns. free thinking and originality is scarce here, with a few exceptions.

you can say "some people just dont ( Read more... )

BUT you can go find people.
out of the 35,000 kids there theres probably 1000 cool ones
out of my 10,000 here theres probably 100 cool ones

see the issue?

if you cant ignore "most people" and you are surrounded by "most people" you may need more diversity. but more diversity means more people and more people means bigger school.
or, just go away from school to find more people.
try to be happy please

i think palnuick was good for choke and fc, but his themes, plots and characters got way too repetative so that by the time i got to invisible monsters i wanted death. the man can't write from a girl's perspective for anything and it seems to me like he's got no originality left: once he saw something work for him in one book he just shat out a bunch more just like it and everyone ate those up too. maybe i wouldn't bashing him so much if he weren't overrated. haven't ready diary though, i'm just basing what i know on those three that i did read. it's always possible that survivor, diary, etc are different.

nope
i agree with you liz, all of his books are the same. if you've read one you've read them all. palahniuk's is destined to forever write the same novel, though if you've only read one of his books then you'd probably think he was an amazing author. it's the fact that most of his stories involve similar storylines, characters are similar with similar traits, themes are recourring and his style is very much the same.
diary wasn't too bad.
i don't think that your reasoning is reason enough to want to leave a place. if you have no money for things maybe you should consider getting a job. look around for one that would interest you. this would make life more enjoyable!
p.s. don't read in class! you're paying for college so pay attention!

oh yeah also
I LOVE LIZ shes my grlfrienddddddddddddddddddddddddd

i think providence is a really good place for you, or at least thats what i've taken away from your attitude since you've been there. you obviously love the city a lot, and that could be enough tos tay, location may not be everything, but it is soemthing. but it also matters what you do there. as for people around, eventhough i know that this isn't what you meant, but youc an't judge a person by their t-shirt. think of some of the kids you knew in high school, they were nothing like you and you got along well. true, college is really a search for people much more like you than the kids you went to high school with, but also, things take time. don't just assume that because your first trimester has come and gone and you haven't met your lifelong friend(s) yet that they don't exist at jwu. take a page from lao tzu and let things come to you, just surround yourself with what you love, and don't give a second though to what worries or bothers you. deal with them, but don't stress over them, and block them out until it's time to deal with ( ... )
