I offered to babysit for Steve & Tatyana last night. They gratefully accepted and I headed over directly from work. Idle hands. V-Day plans.
My Sunday was spent making bread and more marmalade. The bread is a simple batter bread - sweet with unsalted butter and light and tender. Last week, I made tangelo marmalade. Brrr. Puppy chronicles.
The cold snap in Louisville has been brutal this week. I went into the kitchen to let Gypsi out the back door and saw the window panes covered in ice. When I examined the door handle, I saw a screw had slightly worked loose, and the head of the screw was thick with frost. I had difficulty even opening the door. Looking ahead to resolutions.
I'm already starting to look forward to resolutions for the new year. Some of them are perennials - get healthier, learn new things - but I'm really good about following through on them and actually sticking to resolutions I make. I set medest but acheivable goals, set time frames for steps of goals, and throw some in that I think will be fun. ( Read more... ) -
Poo-painting dog. Music lessons.
Gypsi had an accident in her crate Friday evening. We went out for a few hours, and she pooped in her crate and then danced in it all over the place. As soon as I stepped in the house, I could smell the dog poop but had no idea of the horrors that awaited us in the basement. I was a little tipsy so Mick bravely cleaned out the crate. Ghetto rigged roof
My handyman was in a car accident and has a badly sprained wrist so he can't help with my leaky roof. My ladder is not tall enough to reach, and we are in the middle of a dangerous freezing rain morphing into and ice storm.

Woke up about an hour ago to water dripping from the ceiling. Moved the bed, put a bin underneath. And now I get to try to get a handyman to come out and look at it during a winter storm advisory.

Critters.
We have only one kitten now, Wasabi. There was an accident and Rhubarb died. Mick was very supportive, as always, and took care of cleaning everything up and burying her. It was my fault that she died - I know it was a total accident, but it was really traumatic. Wasabi stood outside the closed bedroom door and screamed bloody murder for two ( Read more... ) -
Sofia & her imaginary sisters
I babysat Sofia last night while Steve & Tatyana went out for his birthday. We were playing with her dolls and she told me she doesn’t sleep very well. She said her sisters keep her awake.
Keep in mind, she is an only child.

We have a wonderful weekend ahead of us - there is a sustainability conference all weekend. One of my good friends and roommates from college, Michelle, is giving a lecture on the city's tree canopy, and what is being done to protect it.
