Everyone in their life is waiting for the parade for them. Waiting for that one defining moment of sheer happiness. Living their life, waiting for the next big thing, is what most people do. You are not crazy, that's exactly the charm and fault of Wise: the world keeps on spinning, but not there. When I get angry at Wise, it's always because it feels like the entire town is an endless cycle of babies and marriages but no other changes. If someone were to doubt that things are predestined, I'd send them to Wise, one of the most predictable places ever. But it is what keeps me coming back; it's what I describe romantically to the city kid non-believers. It is our very own Mayberry...with a cast of characters who never let you down. There aren't many things in this world we can count on, but Wise is one of them. I realized this when I used to read the old yearbooks in Ms. Cook's office. All the business' ads have changed, but it's the same people, the same town, the same roles being fulfilled. And to know that you come from a place like that; a place that will always be what you expect it to be, is an amazing comfort. If you think you appreciate it now, just wait till you move away. hey! haven't talked to ya in awhile. i live right beside of that cemetery that you were describing, and i see that sight often. it's beautiful and uplifting. it makes you realize things you've never thought of. thanks for making me realize things that have never crossed my mind. hope to see you soon!
