so, i was feeling a bit ill on sunday, and by tesusday i decided to go to the doctor to inquire what my profuse sweating and unusually sore throat came from. strep test came up negative....blood test shows

Mono sucks... i had that one year right before final exams at christmas time. It was going around campus, and they thought i had strep too. Then a week later they're like 'hmm...let's do a blood test'. I suffered. But this helps: take tylenol pm so you can sleep at night, and keep the fever down.. dayquil in the morning so you don't sleep all day, and eat lots of soup, no sodas, non acidic juices. milk helps... and keep some emetrol around, because vomiting is frequent. aside from that, just get rest...and don't go about doing stuff. watch a lot of tv, or play video games. that's all you can really do anyway.
thanks for the advice, the tylenol pm is the thing i keep hearing from people, and i can understand why, sleeping is a bitch. i got some of that to try tonight, and hopefully it works. the good thing is that i already graduated, so there's no finals, or midterms or anything to complicate matters too much. i mean, i have bills to pay, but ill figure something out. i just hope its more like two weeks, and not two months.
yeah. it had nothing to do with a hobo. see, what i did was, i sucked off this diseased monkey, but only after cutting up its penis real good with a straight razor. breaking into the cdc compound was tough, but oh so worth it. mmmmmmm.
Wow, classic presentation. Can you palpate your spleen? Did they tell you not to play contact sports or get in a car wreck for about six months because your spleen will be enlarged and it would be easy to rupture, possibly making you bleed to death internally unless they get to you fast enough and take it out, in which case you'd be more susceptible to a bunch of things as an asplenic patient, such as meningococcus and pneumococcus, both of which you would have to be immunized against. So is this why you haven't been posting for a while? Because if it is, I forgive you. :)
no, no, i havent been posting in a while because im either lazy, or i have nothing worth writing about - however you want to look at it. as far as the warnings go, yeah, both my spleen and my liver are enlarged and weak, and i did in fact feel my enlarged liver. whoo! i feel like a big pile of shit, cause i cant do anything. the doctor specifically told me not to do anything that would require me to exert myself. so, two weeks ago i get off my ass and get a gym membership, finally starting to work out - mono. what a fuck that is. garrr - i hope it goes away soon. i dont really want the three-six month version of this.
no, what are antivirals? all they gave me was zithromax to rid me of a bacterial infection, which i might add has been seemingly succsessful at reducing my overall ass-factor. tell me more.
Oooh, and consider this tidbit from my Medical Microbiology text: EBV (Epstein Barr Virus) (which causes mono) is transmitted in saliva. More than 90% of EBV-infected people intermittently shed the virus for life, even when totally asymptomatic. ... At least 70% of the population of the U.S. is infected by age 30. --> So, you can get it from kissing someone that is totally healthy, who had it in childhood (and in childhood, it's subclinical (i.e. no symptoms)). So THAT means, you can get it from someone who is perfectly healthy AND never even knew they ever had it.
