A 45 pound chocolate cake.

I was pondering something today during my run*, and I thought maybe my trusty LJ friends could help me out. I'm pretty anal about my workouts. I like to know exactly how far I've run, and exactly how fast. I like to keep track of my heart rate. Sometimes I count my footfalls per minute, etc. And that's just running. The spinning bikes at my gym are ( Read more... )

I don't think the reward should be a gym membership. I think the reward should be something fun (like bareboat) or perphaps a trip somewhere or even... nekkid skydiving!

I like the bareboat charter license option a lot. I've been skydiving, didn't like it enough to do it again. :)

As for whether the gym membership is a "reward" or not...let me tell you, this is a swanky, SWANKY gym, it's right next to my office, and it would definitely be a treat. I just don't know about signing up for 6 mos b/c it'd be really hard to give up.

It might be swanky, but I dunno.. something about 'rewarding work' with 'more work' just doesn't sound fun? :)

Well, I'll be doing the work anyway - reaching the goal won't mean I don't go to the gym anymore, and a swanky new gym will make the experience that much more pleasant, right?

For the 30lb goal, I'm not sure if these dumbbells would be considered 'fun'. I saw them on an InfoMercial once and was pretty impressed with the concept.

For the 45lb goal, I'll keep thinking.

Good luck! :-)

Oh, that's a great idea! The only thing is J's weight bench went to live in VT. We could get it back, but where to put it. That'd be a gift for both J and I actually.

I have heard about "walking vacations" in Europe. Here's one in Spain: http://perso.wanadoo.es/sailordeb/index.htm

It looks fairly low-key, but I know there are more rigorous ones. Anyway, treating yourself to a vacation of good food and good wine, and also walking all day some days and seeing a hell of a lot of countryside -- well, it sounds like a reward to me!

Oh, that looks neat! I've often thought about the bicycle tours of the south of france. The one you posted looks similar in vibe. Great idea. :)

For the 30 lb goal.... trapeze school! A moderate costs ($60 plus an afternoon) and I know you'd love it. :)
