My uncle's good friend (well, adopted cousin, really) is being followed by the Philippine government because of his anti-mining crusades. It seems the last guy these bad dudes were after is still missing. Bad, bad news. This is the product of the money we give them to combat terrorism. People get, well, terrorized.

En route to West Virgina, at last! I can't wait.

It's funny, for weeks all I've wanted is some privacy and some solitude and a chance to get out of the house. now that I have it I'm bored and lonely.

But tomorrow I'll be at Aunt Sue's! A vacation from CNN...I'll savor every moment.

So apparently, my hometown got slammed. According to my dad, this storm was worse than Andrew, Betsy, or any one he could remember. The wind damage was so bad that downtown New Roads is almost unrecognizable from the couple of pictures I saw, and there probably won't be power at the house for about a month. I'm getting a little worried, being so far away and that storm heading straight for 'em. At least we'll be a little more prepared this time...and it's a three...

Katrina changed course late. Except in that instance it was for the worse. Maybe this time it'll be for the better?

Three years ago today. Wow.

I either have a stomach ulcer, or am pregnant with the spawn of Satan. I just don't think this is a bug.

I'm in Sewanee, living with Helen. Working at their bookstore, reading a lot, watching my babies grow up (to be cowboys). Lots of walking and fresh air, not a lot of driving, not much of a social life, though I've met some nice people. When did it become acceptable for the ferry to close whenever they felt like it, for no good reason, just because the employees didn't feel like coming to work? As my "boss" would put it, "you don't just do that". If they need to change the hours, change them. Apparently I'm the only one who has need of the ferry at eleven o'clock on school ( Read more... )
