The development of players like Boll, Glencross and Beech had pretty much put pressure on Brule to step up his game, and he hasn't been doing that. With Modin back in the lineup, there just wasn't anywhere to put Brule on the four lines, so Syracuse is better for him than sitting in the press box is. Shelley, on the other hand, isn't going to be helped by regular time in the AHL, so if you have to sit someone in press box, it's better to be him than Gilbert.
