Detroit's top forward line is going to score more goals than the entire Columbus team.

Now the master plan for a #1 center is clear: John Tavares.

Kristian Huselius signs for 4 years

Jarome Iginla's wingman in Calgary, scoring 77 and 66 points the last two years.

Then again, Anson Carter scored 30 goals with the Sedin twins before coming here.

Hainsey, as much as I liked him, got more than what he's worth from Atlanta.

Z and Danny had been mentioned in trade talk at the deadline and at the draft, so I'm not shocked to see them dealt. Getting puck-moving defensemen in return was a good move. Especially considering how d-men have been overvalued in the market this year. And the signing of Huselius mitigates, if not completely makes up for, the loss of Z.

When trying to get better now, you have to sometimes give up players you'd rather keep so that you can fill needs. That's what happened with the Rangers trade.
