I am no longer allowed to look down on anyone for their spending habits.  Out making some returns for my boss, I ... I bought a cashmere nightgown.  Heavily, even ludicrously discounted, but still.  It's gorgeous, and soft, and amazing in basically every way, but wearing it I can't help but feel I will be lined up and shot when the revolution comes

I KNEW you'd like it! My favorite parts are the helpful author's notes at the bottom of each page. I'm betting "Hyacinthe Phipps" is Gorey himself, but it's awesome either way.

I'm not having problems running across copies, but since it's way out of print they're all ridiculously expensive. I've seen everything from $125 to $450, which -- even with tax returns coming up, no. Just no. But I'll let you know if I get lucky...
