What I have learned is that snacking on small healthy food throughout the day keeps you from eating larger more fattening meals. Also, cut out juice, pop, and any drink with sugar. Water...Water is a wonderful thing.

I would also suggest Phase 3 of the South Beach Diet. You can get their cook book and it has alot of healthy delicious food in it. You'll be suprised what you can eat.

Also Take long walks, and when you feel comfortable in doing so jog. Bike riding is also good.

I hope everything works out. When I was on the South beach diet, I also paired it with slim fast for my meals and snacked on veggies and special wraps. so it worked. It worked for my grandmother who lost 40 pounds on it and then went to weight watchers.

I'm sorry about your diabetes. I hope things work out for you.

I understand just how you feel. Just avoid Dr. Gerard. He doesn't look like he's on staff for this program at Summa.

I know you've fought a heck of a lot with your weight, even just in the 8 or so years I've known you. That your diabetes has progressed to this point, I say if you are up for "drastic measures" -- all power to you! Your family needs you and you need a good "quality of life".

I've got my own endocrine issues going on, and know very well that not everyone can find their "health" via less drastic measures. If you do decide to go for it, it's certainly probably the biggest opportunity you'll ever have to completely change your relationship with food, maybe even get your diabetes into remission.

I don't think you're being foolish for considering this. I know you've already tried many other options. I think you're really brave for contemplating something that will force such a drastic change so instantaneously.

Thank you, Rose, for your input. I'm glad that you got Hannah back. I don't get to respond to everyone's entries and messages quickly because I don't have a computer at home anymore. I think "drastic measures" is pretty much where I'm at right now, and I've got a lot of people who've had the surgery who are telling me I should go for it at age 33 because they wish they had sooner.

Surgery shouldn't be a first option...but this isn't your first option. :-) I'll support you in any way I can - I could care less how you get to your goal, just so long as you're around for as long as you can be.

I miss you...I'll have more nights available soon. We should hang out sometime...you can see the new place.

I would love to, Keith. I still have the same home number and I'm home most days now.
