As I study my everyday cultural artifacts of breakfast cereal boxes, I am broadly positioning myself with the theory of cultural studies then closely analyzing the text through social semiotics’ methodology. You deninitely make some very good points. As far as children growing up obese, that is obviously a problem in this country. It has been proven, or close to proven, I should say, that children retain the tastes that they learn early in their lives throughout their lives. This might explain why people have different tastes, it’s all just based on the first thing you ate (I made that part up, but why not?) So, if a child is given vegetables and reasonably healthy food early on, they grow accustomed to that taste, and have a lesser chance of becoming obese in the future. This is why when I see my friends who prematurely married feeding their kids McDonald’s day after day I become sympathetic for the child, as they’re going to crave this for the rest of their lives ( ... )
