Brief note

Arrived back to Tokyo from Indonesia this morning at 6:30. Will make time for a longer post later, but right now trying to catch up with work and sorting my apartment out (gas was off, stuff flung all over, etc.). Things in Tokyo seem pretty normal--today is a national holiday so it's pretty quiet. The stores have food, trains are running (though ( Read more... )

phew indeed...tho we are not out of the woods yet. lots of aftershocks and the stupid nuke plant are keeping everyone nervous.

thank you! i'm glad to hear your sister and her family are ok too, i was a bit worried cause i wasn't sure where they live. there are some grass-roots assistance efforts going on that look encouraging. many of us are eager to volunteer to help with cleanup or whatever we can do, but right now only emergency crews and the like can even get into the area. :/ all we can do is send stuff like soap and toilet paper and hope it helps a little bit.

So glad to hear you're ok. A friend just heard from her uncle in Sendai for the first time this morning. I don't have words for what must be the enormity of events up there.
