Your strawberry memories are wonderful - I can smell the aroma (I wonder if they were "gariguettes" which have an orange blossom nuance) - and I would have so loved to meet Madame A.
Will try that cake.
Didn't see the Avengers yet. Come to think of it, I didn't go to the cinema much these last months - part being too busy, part from dread of popcorn.
Oh, thank you! I wish I'd paid more attention to the variety, although the mention of orange blossom does ping something familiar. I know you'd have got along well with Mme A, though. She was an exceptional cook, and also a smart one, in that she always used the seasonal produce as a guide--and also knew when it was smarter to look outside her own kitchen, because somebody else could do it better. (She was good with simple desserts, but special occasions, like my birthday, were marked with something from the patisserie.)
The cake is very good! I think that with a few tweaks, it would work well with different seasonal fruits. And of course the sugar used for the filling can always be adjusted according to the sweetness and ripeness of the fruit used.
And it is very good warm, with a bit of whipped cream. Just for contrast, you know. ;-)
So you dislike popcorn, too? Cinema popcorn has just never appealed to me at all.
Thank you! And I think that sums up my feelings on Hiddles very well, yes. He IS nice, but he just doesn't do it for me, either. (For what it's worth, you know that I agree with where your lust affections are engaged, anyway. And you know where mine are. *g*)
The hostas don't have names yet, no. They haven't even been in for a week yet, so it's a bit early to make an assessment (ahem!) of character. Although I have to say, I don't have a Sherlock and a Jawn yet... ~twinkles~
Hiddles is Loki, right? (If I were a proper fangirl rather than a dirty old woman I would know that.) He's ok. Nothing that special, except when he smiles.
Mmm, yes, Hiddles is Loki. He does have a nice smile, I agree, but I find I just can't squee about him the way so many other people seem to be. (On the internet, at least. He seems to be taking the lion's share of the attention there.)
He's perfect in that part, isn't he? I can't imagine anybody else as Tony Stark!
Mmmmm, strawberries are so good, in so many ways. I haven't made strawberry pie in a while, but I love it, especially when the berries are really red and ripe. So pretty, too. :D
You're right: that's the nature of fandom! I personally love BBC Sherlock, but I know there were other people who felt like you do, to be sure. Not every fandom will speak to every person!
Mmmmmm, strawberries. I could freeze them! And there's always freezer jam, too...
I'm kind of Avengers'd out, myself, even though I've not seen the film. First the build up to its release and the ensuing squee, and then the even more squee subsequent to its release, and I'm like okay, but I'm just... not really feeling the superhero stuff these days, really. There's just too much of it about, and I kind of feel like with all the action they have to cram into these movies, there's not enough time for me to feel like I'm really invested in the characters. Even the X-Men one where I kept waiting for Fassbender and the other guy to kiss, I kind of zoned out through the actiony bits (as I tend to do) and consequently don't really know what actually happened in the last chunk of the film. All I know is they didn't kiss
( ... )
Oh man. I know all these feels! I do, I do. Let's cuddle together and eat wine gums (or maybe Lionel Rich Tea biscuits?) and talk about things other than Tom Hiddleston's apparent perfection, shall we
( ... )
I am still so amused about Lionel Rich Tea. I'm going to make that joke every time I see a Rich Tea Biscuit now, and people will pity me. Also, I'm just filled with amusement at the idea that he got that randomly in his e-mail and thought it was SO FUNNY that he had to make it his avatar and share it with everybody. SUCH A DORK. (Which is of course why we love him
