I read 27 books in 2011, the most I've read in one year since I started chronicling my reading on LJ. And even more surprising is that I liked all of them and loved many.
This is the first year I gt back into reading myself. I've really taken a break from it since my first son was born ... And I'm shamed to admit that's 13 years ago. I've read a bit in those years but didn't fall in love with reading again until this past July. I don't know if I can document them all but I thnk I've read at least 60 books since then. Of course that means my writing has all but dried up as I only have time for one or the other ...
Well, I'm sure your kids haven't left you much time for reading over the last 13 years! But it's awesome that you've found more time for it this year and that you've fallen in love with it again. There's really nothing like getting lost in a good book, is there? ♥
Besides the pieces you posted, how did your December writing project go? I hope it helped to get back into it? But hey, since your free time is limited, you should spend it doing what you're most excited about, and if that's reading for the moment, then more power to you. (Though I will certainly be excited when you do have chances to write as well!)
Well ... I didn't write every day in December. Far from it. But I did write about 3,000 words altogether (a few drabbles I have yet to post are left) so that's better than I expected. I'm hopeful once the kids hit school next week and the hubby's now out of the house all day every day, I'll be able to set aside some writing time every day, even if it's only half an hour.
I read (or reread) 9 of the ones on your list this year... I'm pretty sure you can guess most, if not all of them *L* I'm not sure how many I read this year all total... I'm going to guess anywhere from 15 to 20 though. Seems as the kids get older, I am actually finding more time for it.
Well, I can guess eight of them - the Millers Kill books and Heat Rises :) What was the other one?
Awesome that you're finding more time to read lately! I think the Millers Kill books were the reason that my reading total was higher than usual this year. It had been a long time since I was so into a series that I just devoured it and forgot about everything else (probably not since I started reading Harry Potter!). Thanks again for recommending it! ♥
The Hunger Games. I was thinking the girls would probably be wanting to read it, so I figured I'd read it first, just to make sure it was appropriate. I ended up reading the whole series... and funny enough the kids still haven't got around to starting it *L*
The Art of Racing in the Rain was my pleasant surprise book of the year. That's definitely one that needs its joy to be shared. I'm so glad you liked it.
It really was wonderful, though I cried my eyes out. I don't know which was more of a surprise - that I read two books narrated by dogs this year or that neither one was at all cute.

Your kids will probably want to read it when the movie comes out?
