"pimping" is a verb frequently used in the medical world. This verb usually involves someone superior then you, usually the attending physician asking a selected inferior multiple questions. Usually in front of a group of people, and commonly involves some level of humiliation

Ph.D. doctors love that too. I once went with my boss et al. to work in a field in Vega, TX. The reigning Vega scientist decided to ask me question after question in front of everyone. And they were all trick questions. And I didn't know any of the answers.

That story probably doesn't help, but at least you know someone else is taking an academic paddling.
