Dilaudid - I've heard of that. I'm glad he's doing so much better! I'm with you, in that I'd rather know what's wrong rather than waiting. I just hate not knowing; even a bad answer is worse than not knowing.
Glad things are improving, and I hope he does what he needs to do. Having watched my father nearly kill himself out of reluctance to face bad hospital news, and recognizing in myself the same potential trait, I'm pretty familiar with the feelings on all sides of these things. Hang in there and hopefully you'll find that right balance of nagging vs. letting him figure it out (trust me, he'll need some nagging).
