waxing philosophisch on a Friday in Berlin

Jun 06, 2008 19:50

Maybe this is brought on by a rash of weddings among friends this summer … and/or seeing happy couples pretty much everywhere I wander around berlin, taking in the sights as raptured tourists, or on their way to or from work together sharing their day’s events with each other … point is, people together. And not just groups of friends (although I’d ( Read more... )

*many hugs* I do hope you have a lovely evening. It was good to chat earlier (although I'm a touch concerned that I offended you, apologies if so). And I really meant what I said. There's no denying the suckage of singledom, but there's also no denying that you're here for a reason, and oftentimes the best ones have the most trouble finding another. I mean, when you're totally awesome, it's pretty tough to find someone to meet your awesomeness :)

Someone will. There's just no saying when. Just remember that you're nonetheless for it.

Enjoy Berlin, Frau Behling :)

Just remember that all of your friends think you are wonderful! And no matter how bad it gets, dating online is probably a really bad idea. Just ask me, I met a group of very interesting people that way! Haha.
Anyways, I must even though the post may not be happy, I was still glad to hear from you. And I hope to chat soon.

Without trying to sound like Journey (ok maybe I am TOTALLY trying to sound like Journey), don't stop believin'. Seriously, people who believe that love is real are the only thing keeping romantic love from being the joke the cynics think it is. Sometimes I have a hard time believing, too, after all my failures, but I still ultimately want to fall in love and get married forever and ever amen. I'm not ashamed, and I'm not skeered. And you shouldn't be, either. :) It reminds me of the little kid from Love, Actually (one of my favorite movies, which I never would have seen without YOU pushing me!!): "Come on, Dad, let's go get the shit kicked out of us by love."

I don't have any answers (obviously, total relationship failure here), but I hope you enjoy the sunset and it brings you a little peace. <3

RE: the security clearance thing, I don't think you let anybody down. These things happen. I don't know a lot about the process of getting a security clearance (except for what I've heard from you) but it seems like didn't really get a sense of your character or your abilities. And I sincerely think that you will overcome any minor setbacks caused by not getting a security clearance. You're a pretty brilliant person and I know you'll find a way to make a difference and have a successful career. I wish I was in Berlin to beat some sense into you : P

As for the love thing, you know my feelings are more similar to RJ's. I don't put much stock into the romantic love thing. But who knows, maybe what you're looking for is out there. On a sidenote, I wish I could whine to you about my love life right now. Ugh. Anyways, I miss you! When are you coming back from Berlin? I'm moving to DC in probably midaugust, so we may end up somewhat near each other for a short period.
