I'd totally try unemployment. You did the right thing and gave them way more than two weeks' notice, and they screwed you over.

It sounds like your Boss From Hell is throwing a temper tantrum over your leaving. Clearly, he's a bitch.

But here's the good news: now you have a totally valid excuse to run around for the next month pretending to be a spy!

Jesus, Bob. Wade just said they did the same thing to him, too.

What a bunch of arse - nice way to treat your loyal employees, shame the customers don't get to see it. But, as you say, it's a month's holiday. And after working there so hard for 12 years, you deserve it.

If he's leaving, is he really a loyal employee any longer? :)

Which isn't to say I think such tactics are justified. Totally assinine. Probably driven by lawyers who say you ahve to treat everyone the same, so you have to treat them all like perps to be sure you don't get burned by the few who are....

He was loyal up until the point they fired him. So yes, he was a loyal employee. Not to mention a considerate one.

Loyal employees don't go taking jobs with other companies, right?

Again: I think Bob was doing the right thing, and any SANE employer would have taken him up on his offer. But when you say "I took a job with your competitor" or just "I took another job bye", you are by definition no longer a Loyal Employee.

Sounds like the boss from hell wanted to underscore why Bob was leaving in the first place.....
