What if those assurances are delivered with a long string of things that rhyme with "timey", plus maybe an extra bowtie? And the "foreshadowing" is delivered post facto with some kind of handwaving about River's timeline?

I was disappointed that we didn't get any technobabble about what was happening with the body scanner pregnancy test thingy. I like nonsensical Doctor Who technobabble.
