Nobody, no matter how enamored they are of stories in which nothing happens, can read through China Miéville's Kraken and honestly say that it's just another fantasy story. It's a book where you finish it and have the definite feeling that you have read something.

I mean, damn.

That's good news. I read The City and the City and was a little bit disappointed... wasn't sure what to make of Kraken when I saw it on the shelves. But maybe now I'll check it out.
