Well, if you're curious about the group that I went off with (academic and special libraries), basically what I learned is that if you're considering a career in an academic library, you're pretty much required to hold a second master's degree (in pretty much anything, but still). To be honest, I'm not excited at all about that prospect now, and am definitely considering archiving/preservation. I think my group was one of the first (if not the first) group sessions that ended the quickest.

I'm undecided between public librarianship (anything but children, ack) and archiving. Public librarianship sounds more interesting, but I'm undecided. I wish that the group sessions were staggered in a way that we could have gone to more than one, ya know? I'm sure that there are a ton of undecided folks.

A lot of the discussion with us had to do with career stuff. For example, they said that other schools are focusing heavily on online preservation stuff but at QC they still emphasize learning about print archival and preservation methods in addition to the digital stuff, just so that the students are more well-rounded and they can use these skills once they're out of school ( ... )
