Because he is just gorgeous and yet I have zero interest in him, though all of my female friends would jump him in a heartbeat. Having been in that very position before, it stands to reason that he would be my celeb best friend. We could smoke cloves and drink wine and be very post-Goth-but-still-kinda-Goth together. And wear fedora hats and glasses to events.
Plus I've got quite a crush on one of *his* friends, so that could work out real well too. Just sayin'.
For a female celeb best friend, I have no idea. I do like Keira Knightley -- she seems like she'd be lots of fun, though I would have to make her EAT SOMETHING on a regular basis. She's a bit young, though. On the other end of the spectrum, there is Helen Mirren, who I absolutely ADORE -- I want her to be my mentor, I swear. For someone close to my age, though, I have no idea. Maybe Jeanine Garofalo.
Perhaps I can be her mentor, then -- someone to renew her love of pasta and carbohydrates and explain to her that sometimes one needs more than a shiny smile to get through a conversation. I will teach her vocabulary and the art of conversation while feeding her butter sandwiches, washed down with milkshakes. And she will be so grateful, she will call her buddy Jack--who will already have heard all about my fabulosity from my BFF Johnny--and he will realize I am completely made of awesome and that he simply must have me, and he will fly to New Jersey and bring me a bouquet of lilacs and also a pony.
Yes. That's how I see this all going. The way is quite clear. And not at all far-fetched.
That's weird - I had the celebrity best friend dream the other night - it was Siouxsie Soux but when she was younger - like in the really early eighties - it was cooool!
I always thought I'd get on well with Drew Barrymore! I reckon I'd like to be best friends with her.
Boys - hmmm I don't know really, someone geeky like me I guess, maybe Vincent Gallo coz I think he's as great as he thinks he is or maybe Tarantino so we could just talk about geek stuff all day!
Vincent Gallo would probably be a bit high maintainance...I can forsee major diva attacks if you disagreed with him....but then he did make Buffalo 66 which absolves him completely. :)
I prefer to think of it the other way round. What celebs would be fighting to have ME as their friend (with/without secret crush on me)
Picture the scene... Scarlett johansson would be feeling all smug that with Paris Hilton in jail she's free to be #1 "click her fingers and get what she wants" but then Keira Knightley would come along and point out that as Tony can't eat cakes and I don't eat anything we'd be perfect for each other and then Jack Osborne would be passing on his way back from juggling lions and point out that not only do we share a love of climbing and kayaking but I understand his accent as my dad was from Brum too so we can do guy stuff and hang out [and then he'd casually leave the box sets of 'Jack Does Stupid Things' in the line of the camera

I have to say, personally I can't stand Keira Knightley. I was reading an interview with her yesterday and she is bland on a stick.

You know my glittery shoes were bought as tribute to Buffalo 66?
It's the fact that he's such a little bitch that endears me so!

For a female celebrity, I'd have to go with Drew Barrymore, just because she looks like she'd be so much fun, and she's always happy!
