People in the UK will know that there is a big teacher's strike over our below inflation pay rise on Thursday. This isn't driven by greed or laziness or anything other than the fact that most teachers at the bottom of the pay scale, despite being trained professionals, despite doing extra years at uni to train, still live hand to mouth after

i totally support what you guys are doing. it's ridiculous to complain that striking will upset the kids' education. teachers who don't give a crap because their wages are shitty anyway is what really upsets their education.

i've got more than a few teachers this year who have to work one or two other jobs outside of school just to take care of their families, and that is bullshit.

That's the shocking thing. I take on extra teaching work to supplement my income and I know some of our newly qualified teachers take on evening jobs as well just so they can afford to pay the bills, or they end up having to live at home with parents. It's a ridiculous situation.

I'm not a NUT but the school is closed on Thursday to Year 7-11s. Although I think a few will be coming in for exam prep. I can't believe some of the NUTs aren't striking to support the others. Fuckers.

I know...I think it's terrible that there are non striking NUT members. Especially if their excuse is 'well I'm okay!'

It's ridiculous that teachers are not paid more. When it comes to who influences a child and inspiring them... well, besides their parents, their teachers come next... how can one not appreciate them?!
