Who just hit 20k? This guy. And it's been awhile since I've done a meme like this, so!

ASK A QUESTION, it can be anything CFUD related. OOC, IC, relationship, psychology, thoughts, whatever. I.E. My character's opinion of your character or maybe what you have been wondering about this behavior or that, or general thoughts on my characters or ( Read more... )

JESSE IS A SUPERHERO, WHAT IS HIS SUPERHERO NAME AND HIS SUPER POWER??

COMING BACK TO THIS WHEN IT ISN'T 6 AM or wait, no, I can answer part of it and then later on I will be like oh by the way.

His super hero power would definitely be music-related. Probably the manipulation of something (EMOTIONS? THOUGHTS?) through sound waves or blah blah pseudoscience blah aka "sing and shit happens." I have no idea what his name would be because 6 AM but I think it would be a music term of sorts and Jesse would think he is so smart. Soooo smart.

What drew you to Saki and made you want to play her somewhere?

Aviy and Box basically dragged me into a dark alley and were like WATCH DRRR AND THEN READ THE NOVELS AND APP AOBA and while watching the anime I thought damn this chick is awesome I would totally play her. And her relationship with Kida is right down my alley DOOMTP FOREVER. She's also just incredibly strong and kind of fucked up at the same time and an amazing character.

If you could write the next season of Glee what would be in it?

IT WOULD BE STRIPPED BACK TO THE BASICS.

None of this THEMES SO WE SELL MUSIC bullshit. Scale it back to the original concept of scrappy kids and their idealistic yet kind of dumb teacher working to keep their club together. There would be actual arcs - Sectionals, Regionals, and Nationals - where the competition isn't just an afterthought. The ensemble would be an ensemble again and not just "and now we are going to focus on this one character forever and make it all about them" (spoilers have me flipping tables, can you tell). In general, my biggest tiff was how horribly imbalanced this season was. It was scattershot. I'd love for the writers to sit the hell down, decide on a general arc that they want, and commit to it. None of this half-assed bullshit with blatant fan pandering.

Is there a particular character type you feel like you're missing right now?

For the record, he's already forgotten that Naoto went off on him. Jesse St. James, everyone!

Anyway, Vino is actually okay in his book! Yes, the whole part where he kills people for a living is off-putting, but he was upfront about that. And, let's face it - Jesse is friends with Damon Salvatore, a vampire who will kill people on a whim. His whole outlook on the holy shit dangerous people thing is "if you're not going to kill me, then whatever." He's got too much going on to worry about stuff like that! IMPORTANT STUFF LIKE THAT. Vino annoys him at times and he's impossible to talk with about some things, but he's a crazy killer guy who seems to have good intentions. The latter balances out the former. And honestly, Jesse loves a good trainwreck, so Vino's fun to watch at times.

REVERSE.

YOU'RE SO FUCKING MAGNANIMOUS

So Claire's not exactly... what you'd call a normal twenty-year-old. Shocking, I know. But I mean this aside from being a professional assassin: he was orphaned at birth, never really involved in school stuff, raised by a well-respected crime family, and ran away to join the circus at age 8. So there's a big part of him that's really disconnected with the standard American teenage lifestyle! "Normal" things tend to fascinate him, because of how novel and occasionally unreal they seem to him. Guys like Jesse are just so interesting to Claire because it's not an area he's experienced in, and the second something interests Claire it's all over because he will not rest for an instant until he has bugged the shit out of you about every single aspect of your life. And even that aside, Jesse just seems like a cool cat, and Claire approves of cool cats.

What character would you want me to app from your canons, and why?

I STILL THINK YOU SHOULD APP THAT ONE even though that's not my canon. It would be funny. I would laugh.

Uhhhhh, gosh. That one character you mentioned? Alternatively, anyone appable from Vocal Adrenaline. They're all kind of twisted and warped, but the thing with Glee is that there are always threads for people to pick at. It would be interesting.

I AM DULL same question back at you.

HAVE YOU FOUND A WHOLE NEW APPRECIATION FOR SHOWTUNES NOW?

Reply

boldstarring April 20 2011, 13:20:15 UTC
HERE'S THE FUNNY THING - I love showtunes. When I was really young, I didn't listen to the radio (granted, it was the late 80s / early 90s, so how safe would that have been). My mom had a lot of cassette tapes and CDs of various musicals, so I'd listen to those instead. Disney musicals were my thing growing up, and I have vague memories of watching "Oklahoma!" repeatedly. My dad ended up making cassette copies of those various CDs and other tapes for me so I could listen to them in my room, man. Showtunes were my childhood, so I get this geeky sort of pleasure in being able to use that "knowledge."

As a bonus, I actually took a course on the movie musical back in Fall '09, so I have all these notes and saw a number of obscure musicals. I looooved that class, so it's, uh, a little hilarious that the knowledge is paying off in ... this form ...

So! One thing you like about playing Aradia and one thing that drives you nuts already - go.

Clearly your whole life has been tailored towards playing Jesse St James on the internet. WHO KNEW. (also man, my secretary at work is a huge fan of him. it's quite bizarrely hilarious as she keeps asking me how I know about Glee when I don't watch it and it is just "UH.")

AS FOR YOUR QUESTION.

i bet you thought it would be that she talks like this
which means that i cant rp on my phone because theres too much code for one finger to type
but really
this is surprisingly easy to write though i am pretty sure i havent quite got homestucks stupid cadences down yet

The actual thing that drives me nuts is also the thing that makes Aradia fun to play - she knows everything and is following a plan that may only slightly intersect with the rest of the trolls' in order to ensure that things happen as she knows they do. That's interesting because it poses a kind of conflict that I think that the narrative is going to explore in the future now that she's Alivedia as opposed to her other incarnations ... the only problem is that I don't know ( ... )

Aradia's "quirk" is probably the easiest to type on any phone. You lucked out so much.

The car accident that took his arm and his sight! Which, well, obvious. It was when he was fairly young (eight? ten?). He had to learn how to do things all over again, and that's molded him into who he is today. The incident with Cradle Pharmaceutical nine years ago is a close second because - life or death situation, camraderie, that'll do it to you. I think it made him less trusting, more closed off and willing to put up a front.

One thing that you want to do with or have happen to one of your characters at some point! What is it and why?

I'm a bit braindead at the moment, so I'll go easy for now! Relationship?

Jesse has no idea what to make of Cat! She can sing, but she's also all over the place, which makes it hard for him to really discuss stuff like music with her. He did notice that Rachel was a bit ":|" around her, so there's a bit of ... "lol uh-oh" in his head re: Cat. But it's all good.

Reverse!

Rachel said I was talented and clapped we're totally friends don't worry!

Cat likes Jesse! She was a little sad when she found out that he had, as you put it, "a duet partner" because Cat is naturally very flirtatious (to the point where in an episode where she was surrounded by four dudes that were into her it was only creepy because you were actually kind of worried for them) but she also won't ever ever ever flirt with someone that has a girlfriend so he's safe. So, yeah! BFFS!

What's your favorite thing about playing your characters?

Oh man, I was thinking about this last night. I love Jesse because he has no concept of social graces. He can come off as charming and amicable and perfectly sociable! But he doesn't quite ... get it, per ce. He'll be completely forward and blunt in a conversation and will make comments that are, uh, the antithesis of cultivating healthy social relationships, and he won't back down or apologize for either. He's a dick! But he doesn't actually intend to be one. It's even funnier now because Jesse has been, off and on, trying to curb some of his more dickish tendencies, which sometimes leads to ... well ... magicalness ( ... )

They are probably something he picked up when he was super young. He leads a sheltered life with bodyguards et all and had no friends whatsoever! It probably was something he saw in a store when he was really young - the small, crappy bookstore rack or the few trades they carry - and had someone buy for him. And from there, he devoured what he could find, branched out, discovered the land of comic book shops and used the internet, and it was awesome.

What's a canon that you love but will probably never app and why?

I honestly can't answer this because he'd love anything. Even if he was gifted with suck, he would think it was sooooo cool. And then he'd complain about it later. But he'd still think it was cool. Chris D'Amico, everyone!

State of the union for one of your characters! Go.
