I find myself a little surprised that something positive a presidential candidate is doing has caught my attention enough that I'm mentioning it here. Or maybe it just strikes close enough to home that I feel compelled to mention it.

RIP Merlin the Cat
This morning I was getting ready for work and realized I hadn't seen Merlin in about a day. I looked around and saw him under my bed. When I made some noises he didn't respond, nor did he when I touched him. He hadn't been as playful since the move, but I didn't have a sense that he was seriously sick ( Read more... ) -

I just caught this off slashdot and thought it would be worth putting here, mostly for hindsight. It seems like one of the more feasible approaches. I was just in a community meeting where we discuss how to coordinate services. In a discussion about providing services to veterans one member stated that since October 2007
3 times more veterans have committed suicide than actually died in service.
All I can say is this was very sobering.
