The shipping forecast

I've been very ill recently, and one of the side effects has been a complete inability to sleep. As a result, I've taken to listening to Radio Four all night - it's calming, and coming from a sailing sort of background, the shipping forecast at about quarter to one is sometimes enough to send me to sleep. Pretty much the same thing for me. I grew up near the Humber estuary so the shipping forecast was a regular feature on all the local radio stations and TV channels. Even the commercial ones.

I used to have really good hearing as well and on a quiet night I could hear microwave transmissions in the higher frequency ranges. So random radio chatter, white noise and ZX Spectrums loading lull me to sleep as well.

to answer your question; episodes of I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue that I've already heard a hundred times. It's like being transplanted into some warm, fuzzy, surreal other universe where one isn't required to make any sense and for some reason this makes me feel very much at home..
