Recently, I've read some things concerning 'hidden journals'.
I have such a problem with this.

1. Why have a journal, ONLINE, if you are going to hide it? Get a paper one, or use your word processor.
2. Why does someone feel the need to hide who they are? If you don't want people finding you or knowing your business, don't put it out on front street ( Read more... )

I've never understood that either.

The other thing that gets me are people on MySpace who blog about non-personal things like satellite radio etc. and restrict those kind of entries. Or people who leave their entries open and then decide to limit them later. I just don't get it.

i guess some people think they are more interesting or important or something than they really are!

...I don't know. I friends-lock too many of my posts, I'm guilty. I don't deny my journal's existence, though. Do you mean journals that no one's supposed to read at all?

i'm talking about people that have two seperate journals, and one is the "real" journal, but still posted publicly.
they make the "real" one unknown to others or to a select few) and usually they assume their "real" identity on this journal.

i don't know if that helps...it's a bit confusing.

Ok, I know that kind. What a stupid idea. How would you hide a journal from undesired readers by making PUBLIC posts?

They are the kind of journals that sometimes have infuriated posts about how certain people found their PUBLIC journal and had no right to read it, right?

why does this aggravate you so? It is their own business how they wish to display their own journal. I realize that many people can find a way into seeing my journal if they really wanted too. But I choose to make it friends only. What irritates me most is how irritated you are by others decisions.

ok. see..i'm not talking about people who have a friend's list and make posts FRIENDS ONLY. I'm talking about hidden journals. Why is there a need, is what I'm getting at? And if there is some reason why you wouldn't want others to see what you are writing, then why do you write it? i mean, on some level, you must want someone to see it!

to each his own, like your opinion and mine.

I've never posted friends only. The only good reason I see for it is if you're tring ot filter out a specific person, like say a family member or whatnot.
