Perhaps this is just me, but I really, really hate New Year's.

I hate all celebratory holidays, because you feel like Hell when you have nowhere to go and you're sitting home alone. I also hate parties though because you feel like Hell when you don't drink, because if you don't "get wasted man" you're not "cool"

exactly, which is why i dont even pretend to make plans on holidays cause i know im not gonna drink and its no fun being the only sober one. staying home is easier. new years really does suck the most tho. its not even a real holiday.

parties don't necessarily mean drinking.
i had a everyone-sober party tonight and it was
damn fun,
if i can say so myself.

No way! New Year's is definitely my favorite holiday, followed closely by 4th of July. Why? Lots of shiny things, noise, kisses at midnight, and no requirement to be with your family.

Well, my dear, allow my away message from New Year's Eve/Day to do the speaking:

"I fucking hate New Years. Why? Because I've yet to ever have a good one. While everybody is out having the time of their lives, hanging with friends, being at parties, I'm sitting at home alone. My sister's at a party, my parents are at one, even my 9-year old brother is at one. The only internet-capable part of my computer is AIM, and everybody is on away, because they're celebrating. Does anyone ask me to hang out, despite the fact that they know I've never done anything for New Year's? No. I can't play video games, because my PS2 and Xbox are broken. I am at a huge writer's block in the two scripts I'm working on. The 3D stuff I'm doing isn't working right. My computer has a HUGE virus. I have never felt so lonely."

But I'm very happy you had a good one.
