IDK, I have very mixed feelings about Sansa. I feel like she is, like you said, a very real and believable character, and she does things in a way that is probably more true to life than some others, but I just cannot like her. I don't actively dislike her the way I do, say, Joffrey or Viserys, because she hasn't really done anything to warrant that level of dislike, but I do find her passiveness boring and I think of her as a very weak, easily dismissable character. This probably says more about me than it does about her or you, though. One of my favorite things about GoT is the wealth of different character types it has, something for everyone and not just one mass of sameness, so I'm glad to have characters like her even if I don't personally find much of anything to like in them ( ... )

I totally understand Sansa not being universally adored, it's not a surprise to me, given she's no paragon of virtue. I think I was predisposed to like her, because the friend who introduced me to the show kept gushing about how awesome Sansa was, lol, so I knew that she grew up at some point and that made me more sympathetic as I watched her journey. But compared to 90% of the other characters who are very strong and bold and brash and have magnificently sprawling storylines, she is very easily dismissed.

I'm glad to have characters like her even if I don't personally find much of anything to like in them.

:D I love that you have that attitude! I see the whole 'I find this character worthless, I think they should be killed off' attitude a lot of the time with people I like (I'm strange that way, I often like the characters that are pretty unpopular- not Joffrey, though, NEVER Joffrey), and it's nice that you're okay with her because of the variety of character types available.

I like your honesty in this post. I think your ( ... )

V-day gifts from parents is awesome. I get them and well, I'm kinda used to it.

As to the whole... personality thing? I'm kinda not sure what to say.

I'm realizing this isn't a thing unique to me and that makes the little niggling doubt I had about the motivations behind the gifts go away. ^_^

Ha, no need to say anything! I'm just doing a meme, and it seemed to me that picking ONE character was a hard call! I started to think of who else I related to and it branched out from there.

Yay!!

LOL for me it was more the 'You see that many things in yourself OMG!' Cause if I did it I'd panic and end up like 'I DON'T KNOOOOOW'

I've never a V-Day fan - single or otherwise. I just feel it's such an insignificant 'holiday'. My parents always send me a V-Day gift (provided I'm in the country...otherwise it's just an email) as tradition. I think my mom's side used to do that so she has just continued it.

The sad thing for me is that somehow I stumbled across a wikipedia article (that I'm taking at face value...) about how the person who popularized it wound up regretting it and spending the rest of their life criticizing and trying to convince people NOT to celebrate it anymore because they were appalled at how it become so commercialized and not about the message of love and all that they'd wanted. Ouch!

Ha, I love that it's also a tradition on your mother's side, it's neat our families share that!

Aw, I love Jensen so much! The fact that she was so ordinary in a show with so many extraordinary women makes it all the better when she does do something courageous ♥

I don’t understand why people hate Sansa for being romantic and idealistic and hating conflict and being too nervous and afraid of disappointing people to speak up for what’s right because that is real, damn it.
THIS!

I admit I didn't like her at first. She seemed to be more interested in herself than her family (which admittedly, I can be like that sometimes as well, but I've been known to loathe characters that remind me of myself, so...) and the fact that she came off as a bratty, entitled, pre teen drama queen didn't really help. BUT! I can understand why she wanted to do what she thought was expected of her, rather than work hard at being something that she wasn't even interested in being (does that even make sense?) And OF COURSE she was romantic and idealistic, she's what 13? Also, I really admire how much she's grown, and how she's learning to stand up for ( ... )

This exactly! As much as I adore Cara and Kahlan, they came to us as strong, dedicated, fantastic BAMFs already, and while I have fun watching them, I don't see myself in them or any traits we share (well, except for Cara's irrefutable logic that when they're trying to SAVE THE WORLD, it's not the best idea to keep being diverted by small, minor problems. Her rant about the Seeker actually going a week without rescuing farm animals or orphans was hysterically on point).

Jennsen, otoh, is relatable and I was always sad we didn't see more of her. I know it'd be hard to work her into the storyline, but still.

Oh, I know Sansa's a hard girl to warm up to, but I think with me, the more I'm meant to dislike certain characters- either as per the author's intentions or because of fandom's hatred for them- the more I actually like them, lol. She IS a bratty, entitled drama queen and that's what I ( ... )

Oh my God, I love you.

Jennsen is by far my favourite character in LotS (though I adore Cara and Kahlan, too), partly because she's so... ordinary. And yet she still steps up to the plate, ready to take a swing, when she's needed. (I think that was a baseball metaphor. I don't know; baseball is not my thing.) And okay, I totally shipped her with Darken Rahl. But she wasn't his sister! Not until that time when he, um, said she was. And even so, I don't really believe it, because it's not as though he's exactly known for his honesty. Anyway, yes, Jennsen = ♥.

I don't really care about Valentine's, either - the one good thing about it is that my friends and I (yes, even the ladies who have partners) exchange chocolates as a sort of testament to our own awesomeness.

And you? You are awesome, too. *hands you virtual chocolate*

ILU, too! :D

I follow your baseball metaphor with ease, even though I am not a sports fan at all, because it speaks the truth about Jennsen's innate awesome. I feel like someone who has all these strengths and advantages and and everything who then goes on to achieve victory is...well, cool, sure, but it's all the more impressive when someone without those advantages is placed in adverse circumstances and is brave enough to do the best they can.

(that said, I am APPALLED by Richard who, upon discovering his long-lost sister, decided the best thing to do was send her right into Darken Rahl's palace, facing mortal danger! I know the situation was tough, but...how could he claim the higher moral ground and shame Zedd when he was risking her life?!)

Eeek, how exciting, a fellow shipper! I am a complete fangirl over Darken/Jennsen, tbqh, SO MANY VIBES, TEH UST, AUGH.
