It's a parent's job to be unreasonable, it's what they do best. They will eventually regret everything they said and tell you that they'd just rather not know next time. I went home recently to see my mother, I won't be there for Christmas, we were shopping and I was trying on some shoes and asked her if she'd rather just stumble on my new tattoos or she'd rather me tell her, and she said she'd rather not know, if she ever wants to see them, she'll ask. They never accept it, they just learn to cope.
