The weather service was saying that if we get snow in the hills next week, we'd have snow before you guys. And this is Coastal California, not known for our copious snows. That said, we were running bout the same temperatures as you guys (which is pretty common here.. mid 60's to lower 70s)
whoa, cool! good luck at beating us at our own game! ;-)
tonight on the radio i heard someone talking about the freaky weather and talking about how he's sure that soon all kinds of crazy apocalyptic things are going to start happening... 70 degrees less than a week after New Year's?! Don't be surprised if the sun turns to blood and the moon cries tears! The funniest thing he said though was "we are DEFINITELY going to be paying for this later - don't be surprised if full-grown snowmen fall from the sky in the middle of August this summer!"
Last winter, we hardly got any rain for most of winter, and then all of a sudden from April through May it seemed like the skies opened up. I hope that the weather service is right about a pattern change happening next week. I mean, freezing temps are nice if you get snow out of it, but since we rarely do (it did snow at sea level here a few years ago), I HATE the cold, because the frost kills my sensitive plants back, and is just not fun when you slip on ice outside of your house. They say the Sierra Snowpack is below average. With less snow, that means less water for most of the big cities in California (if we lose our snow pack due to global warming, LA may turn into a landscape of desert plants rather than lush tropical style gardens (almost all of their water comes from snowmelt).
