Hi, I'm new, and have a quick question. I gave birth on Monday, and my milk came in on Wednesday. I was wondering how long it took for your milk to dry up. Any suggestions for making this a little more comfortable would be much appreciated.

My breast were extremly sore for about 5 days then they calmed down, as hard as it is do not touch them or do anything to them apart from wearing a tight bra and breasts pads, if they get bad put savoy cabbage leaves in your bra too (sounds mad but it does help).
I still leaked heavily for about 3 weeks and it stopped compoletly at about 8 weeks, but was only sore for the first week.

this worked really good for me:

get some of those cooling breast pads, put them on your boobs and then buy an ace bandage and bind your boobs really tight. twice or three times a day, take off the ace bandage and put bags of frozen peas on your boobs for about 20 minutes.

that dried up my milk in about 3 days.

Ahhh, binding is really scary! It can actually cause plugged ducts and mastitis which are bad enough when you're breastfeeding (the cures that work best are usually breastfeeding + medicine) but when you aren't? OUCH.

It will take a while to totally dry up, but from what I understand, heat compresses help.

:)

And congrats!
