I re-watched Taxi Driver tonight. I've not seen it for a couple of years. I downloaded a few weeks/a month or so ago after deleting Brown Bunny from my computer. It was only on there for a day or two before I watched it. I'm trying to have no more than a single movie on my computer at any given time, I'm not sure how much it can handle anymore ( Read more... )

Actually I was very much aware of the influence Dostoevsky's story played on the plot when I re-downloaded the film. Although the film had been on my movies-to-re-watch list for sometime, the actual event that caused me to re-download the film was searching for the essay "God's Lonely Man" by Thomas Wolfe, which somehow lead me to comparisons between Dostoevsky's Notes from Underground and Scorsese's Taxi Driver (Travis Bickle states that he is "God's Lonely Man").

Although, I'm not sure that I was so aware of the influence the novel had on the film before then, I can't recall really thinking about it. It had been so long since I read or watched either.

I need to pick Notes... up again, soon. I also, still, have to find a copy of "God's Lonely Man."
I'm done rambling.
