I've been writing up the things that Meredith and I did. It's taking a little while and I don't feel like working on it too much more tonight. INSTEAD, I will post this link. Meredith left yesterday. It's a bit lonely in the apartment now. We did and saw a lot of things. I'll post about it with pictures in the next few days, so stay tuned.

I'm not looking forward to the return to work, but it promises to at least bit a bit slow, as tomorrow I don't have any classes.

The 6th was spent with a bit of shopping and some packing.  I made a nice dinner for Meredith and we rented some more movies to watch.   We decided this time on Ray and The Highlander.

The 7th was a cold windy day.  We woke up in time to get to the airport and hour before Meredith would leave.  A decision I began to regret when we learned that ( Read more... )

I wanted to take Meredith to see one of the giant Buddhas that you hear about so we took a trip to Nara.  Nara was also infested with deer.  These deer were a bit livelier. We even saw a group of two or three chase a man down who was feeding them deer food.  One kept trying to eat his jacket, so he started to run away, but they all followed.  We ( Read more... )

Hiroshima was our destination this time.  Our first day was spent in and around the Peace Park, near the explosion site of the atomic bomb.  We saw the Gembaku (Atomic Bomb) Dome and took a bunch of pictures.  One of the highlights of the day was in the Peace Park as we were walking to the Memorial Museum.  Meredith turned around and spotted a ( Read more... )

On the 29th we hung out with a bunch of JETs in a town just north of Hikone.  We went to a yakiniku tabehodai (all you can eat grilled meat).  I was glad Meredith got to have yakiniku, it’s just one of those REALLY REALLY good Japanese foods that I know I will miss when I go back home.  Now when I say that I miss it she can miss it with me.

Meredith and I caught an early shinkansen to Tokyo on the 27th.  We slept most of the way, but woke up in time to get a good view of Mt. Fuji.  It was a pretty clear morning so we could see most of it, it was incredibly amazing how ENOURMUS it actually is.  I was even able to take a few pictures from across the shinkansen (see pictures).

Meredith came in late on the 25th, her plane was delayed making the wait even longer.  We got some dinner at a small restaurant and slept in a hotel near the airport.  On the 26th I took Meredith back to Hikone and showed her the one of the schools I work at.  There were a few kids there for club activities and for the most part they were all shy.  ( Read more... )

Meredith gets here today. I still have about 8 hours before she actually gets here, but once she arrives it will be the start of two long weeks of relaxing....it's going to be great.
