Every year our neighbors across the street throw a potluck party for the first Packer game of the year. They put a bunch of TVs outside, a couple tents, chairs, tables, and invite the people from our street/block.  So, we showed up about an hour late, which meant the goodies we brought didn't get eaten much.

Block parties are so much fun. You guys should ask for the butterscotch cheesecake recipe. Nothing flatters a cook more.

My grandma made a similar dessert to your description, but I'm not sure if it's the same.

Asking for the recipe is a good idea. Perhaps I'll use it as motivation to stop by when the neighbors are sitting on the porch and chit chat a bit.

Yeah, I can't believe so many people knew about it... it totally makes me think that Susan was chattering about us. Well, I suppose it is fair, she does talk about everyone else to us....I wonder if she knows she the block gossip?

that sounds fucking awesome. i'm terrible with strangers [unless i'm drunk, when FunFil comes out to play and make an ass of me... but he is far more adept at small-talk and ice-breaking than i am on my own] but it's been so long since i've had any way to enjoy a packers gameday, with brats and beer and snacks and a nice, social atmosphere that i've built it up into this huge, mythic special event - so, a real one like yours just sounds magical.

oh, how jealous i am.

Well, it's a nice time, but I wouldn't go calling it magical.
