So yesterday i started at Redmond Campus. Today i needed some help with my phone connection, so i called and opened a ticket for 'the phone lady' (as my boss and a few other teammates called her) to come help. I found the moniker of 'phone lady' especially amusing because the Bothell Campus had a 'phone lady' and called her as such also... until

One of the little quirks of the phone company is that the people who have the most power (and can help you with ANY problem) are always middle aged females. This seems to hold for every phone company I've (or anyone I've talked to) ever dealt with. It seems that MaBell was the first major company to pay women at an equal pay scale as men. Many of them are still there raking in $100k a year to be basically really high level tech support.
Oh yeah, a name like Marlene or Beverly helps a lot too :)
